What to expect
There are suspension bridges all over the Alps. There is only one that connects two summits to each other. The Peak Walk runs 107 metres between the two peaks of the Scex Rouge at 2,971 metres, and because both ends are anchored on rock rather than on a valley wall, you cross from one mountain top to another with the glacier a long way below on both sides. It opened in 2014 and nothing else like it has been built since. The view is the other reason to come. From the platform you can pick out the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau at once, which no other accessible viewpoint in Switzerland offers - most sit inside one massif and see only their neighbours. Below the station the Tsanfleuron glacier stretches out, and a chairlift crosses it to a point where you can walk on the ice with a guide. There is also an alpine coaster running down the mountainside at 2,900 metres, the highest in the world, which is a strange thing to find up there and very popular. A long day from Interlaken - the cable car is at Col du Pillon, about two hours away over the Saanenland - but it is the highest thing in the catalogue and the view justifies it.
